Amateur Theatre Websites

Amateur theatre websites that actually work for your society

Whether you're an amdram group, drama society, or amateur operatic company, your amateur theatre website should do more than look the part. TheatreHQ gives your society a purpose-built website with ticketing, members, and management all in one place.

The problem

What's wrong with most
amdram websites?

We've seen hundreds of drama society websites and amdram group pages. The same problems come up again and again.

01

Built on outdated CMS platforms

Ageing WordPress or Joomla sites that nobody on the committee knows how to update. The last blog post is from 2019.

02

Tickets live somewhere else

Your website says "buy tickets" and sends visitors to TicketSource, Eventbrite, or another platform entirely. Two brands, two logins, two sets of fees.

03

No member area

Rehearsal schedules go out by email. Committee minutes live in a shared Google Drive. New members don't know where to find anything.

04

Not mobile-friendly

Over half your audience browses on their phone. Google's mobile-first indexing means non-responsive sites rank lower too.

05

No integration between tools

Your website, ticketing, mailing list, membership records, and committee documents are all in different places. Nothing talks to anything else.

06

Dependent on one volunteer

One tech-savvy member built the site years ago. When they step down, nobody can maintain it.

The solution

What a TheatreHQ
society website includes.

Your website isn't separate from your management platform — it is your platform. Everything your society needs, under one roof.

Show listings

Upcoming productions displayed automatically from your programme. Add show dates, images, cast lists, and descriptions — your public page updates itself.

Integrated ticketing

Sell tickets directly on your own website. No redirects to third-party platforms, no extra fees on top. Your audience stays on your site from browse to checkout.

News and updates

A built-in blog for audition notices, production updates, and society news. Keep your audience engaged between shows without needing a separate CMS.

Members area

A login for your members with rehearsal schedules, committee documents, contact lists, and group communications. No more hunting through email chains.

Mobile-responsive design

Every page looks and works properly on phones, tablets, and desktops. Your audience can browse shows and buy tickets from wherever they are.

Custom seating plans

Interactive seat selection for your venue. Audiences choose their exact seats when booking — no more "best available" guessing.

Audition notices

Post audition calls with role breakdowns, dates, and requirements. Members can express interest directly through the platform.

Committee tools

Meeting agendas, minutes, task assignments, and financial reporting — all accessible to committee members without endless email threads.

Cost comparison

Better than a bespoke build
at a fraction of the cost.

A one-off website build might cost £400–£500, but you get a static brochure site with no ticketing, no member area, and no back-office. Then you still pay monthly fees for a separate ticketing platform.

Bespoke website + separate ticketing TheatreHQ
Website £400–£500 one-off build Included
Online ticketing Separate platform, per-ticket fees Included, no per-ticket fees
Member database Spreadsheet or separate system Included
Committee tools Email + Google Drive Included
Ongoing maintenance Depends on volunteer availability Managed for you
Mobile-responsive Depends on build quality Always
Typical annual cost £500+ setup + £200–£400/yr in fees From £20/month

What groups say

"We spent years with a separate website and ticketing platform. TheatreHQ replaced both — and gave us a members area we never knew we needed."

Common questions

Frequently asked
questions.

TheatreHQ plans start from £20 per month for the Curtain plan, which includes your society website and core features. There are no setup fees and no long-term contracts. Visit our pricing page for full details.
Yes. If you have an existing website, we can help you transition your content and domain to TheatreHQ. Your existing domain name can be pointed to your new TheatreHQ site, so your audience won't notice any disruption.
Ticketing is fully built in. You sell tickets directly on your TheatreHQ website — no redirects to a third-party platform, no additional per-ticket fees from TheatreHQ. Card processing fees from Stripe still apply (1.5% + 20p per transaction in the UK), but there are no extra platform charges on top. Learn more on our box office software page.
Absolutely. Your TheatreHQ site runs on your own custom domain (e.g. www.yoursociety.co.uk). Audiences buy tickets without ever leaving your website, so your brand stays consistent throughout the experience.
Not at all. TheatreHQ is designed for busy volunteers, not web developers. Adding shows, selling tickets, posting news, and managing members can all be done from a straightforward admin panel. If your committee can use email, they can use TheatreHQ.
Yes. TheatreHQ is purpose-built for amateur theatre organisations of all kinds — drama societies, amdram groups, amateur operatic societies, youth theatre groups, and small professional theatres. Whether you're a village drama group doing two pantos a year or a large operatic society producing four musicals, the platform scales to fit.
Your TheatreHQ website carries your society's branding — your name, your colours, your domain. It's your society's website, powered by TheatreHQ behind the scenes. Your audience sees your brand throughout the entire experience, from browsing shows to buying tickets.

Your society deserves
a proper website.
